Social Media Management FAQ’s
Why is social media important and can it help my business?
Billions of people spend time daily on major social networks. Your brand should be where your audience is.
Social media is important to businesses as it allows you to connect with your customers, increase awareness, build loyalty, drive traffic, and drive sales.
Reputable businesses are expected to be on social media in this day and age. Consumers have become accustomed to companies being accessible via social media and it is a vital means of developing relationships both current and prospective customers.
Do you create the content or do I need to provide it?
Either way works. Some clients come with photos, copy, and a clear vision, I take what they have and build from there. Others hand the whole thing off and I handle content creation from scratch. Most fall somewhere in the middle. However you work best, I’ll fit into that process.
Will the content sound like me or like a generic brand?
It will sound like you. If you already have a defined brand voice, I work within it. If you don’t, developing one is part of the process. Before I write a word or design a post, I take time to understand your business, your personality, and who you’re talking to. The goal is content that feels like it came from you, not from a template.
Which social channels should my business be on?
First, let’s address the bigger question: Should your business be on every social channel? No. If you don’t have the team or the content to manage a social channel properly, it can actually do more harm than good.
The first thing to consider is the top social channels in terms of active users: Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, LinkedIn, and Pinterest. You should know your target audience, including age range and demographics. Using that information, determine where your audience spends their time and concentrate your efforts on those platforms.
What is the difference between social media management and social media marketing?
Social media marketing is a paid advertising platform. It focuses on creating and executing a strategy to generate leads for your business by paying for advertising.
Social media management uses the free platform to spread your brand message. Managing a social channel involves creating and distributing content, managing engagement with your audience such as responding to comments, maintaining your profile, etc. Your social accounts should be intention and authentic. A professional in social media management can help ensure the success of your social channels.
Should social media channels be handled by only a marketing employee?
This answer might surprise you, but no! Of course, you probably don’t want to give every single employee access to your social channels, but you should consider creating an employee advocacy program (EAP). An EAP is designed to empower employees to contribute to the conversation in the social media landscape and amplify your brand’s voice.
Brand messages reach 561% further when shared by employees versus the same message being shared via official brand channels!
That is some powerful word-of-mouth advertising! Create an EAP to acknowledge and reward employees for those that are sharing on social channels – and succeeding.
